I grew up surrounded by domestic animals, and my family runs a dog shelter in Portugal,built by my grandfather to house street dogs. At times we’ve cared for up to seven dogs at once; right now we have two. Through Scouts I also learned to interact safely with wildlife, and as a lifeguard I rescued animals in danger more than once.

Since moving to Ireland, I really miss that daily contact with animals,I still greet almost every dog I pass on the street! In 25 years of countless interactions, I’ve never once been bitten, which says a lot about how I read and respect animals.

I have hands-on experience with walking, grooming, bathing, and administering oral medication. Caring for animals is deeply rewarding and even more so when I get to see the same one again and again.
