Having recently sold my business and remarried, we decided to move to Ireland from South Africa in March 2023 - for lots of reasons. 

But mainly to enjoy our freedom, and to see what's over the mountain. 

My four children have always had pets that have been "adopted" - from wild kittens that were born in our compost heap and the mother disappeared when they were only a few weeks old: to a hedgehog that had been caught in a trap in the veld and needed lots of mothering. 

Even had a baby meercat (mongoose), that had been stranded in the middle of the road, for a time. 

Of course, there were also the dogs, dwarf hamsters, budgies and cats. 

The only pets that they weren't allowed to bring home were snakes and spiders! 

During the 10 years on the farm, our “family”, at various times, included chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, sheep, goats and the odd cow - with all their little ones.  

Once the children left home however, the animals seem to leave with them, and as I was working a 65hour week at that stage, I felt it wasn't fair to any animal to be left at home alone most of the time. 

So, it will be great to be a foster mom and have some animals in my life again. 

Met my 2nd husband 18 months ago and have been married for almost a year now. 

We are both calm and laid back. Enjoy the beauty of nature and love going for the odd ramble, especially to historical sites and buildings. Not into serious hiking however. 

I keep my hands busy with knitting or sewing projects. Enjoy baking the odd batch of biscuits or making an old-fashioned healthy soup or stew. Love learning new crafts. 

Jan is quite capable with a toolbox and paintbrush and can solve and repair most minor repairs. Loves to be in the garden and will happily attend to any chores that need to be done there. 

Our passion is helping others where we can and living a Christian life to the best of our ability.
