About Shona

‼️House sitting for cats only!‼️

I'm a full-time pet sitter based in Dublin, operating mainly around Dublin 13. I have built up a lovely group of regular and repeat clients over the past 10 years.

I offer dog walks during the day, cat visits morning and evening, as well as overnight pet sitting. I'm experienced with administering medication and caring for pets with different temperaments, energy levels, ages, and breeds. Whether your pet is shy, reactive, senior, high-energy, or just loves extra attention, I always aim to make them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you're away.

I treat every pet like my own and always try to keep owners updated with photos and messages for peace of mind!

My Instagram is @Clawsandpawsdublin and you can find me on Catinaflat & Rover too for more reviews! My daily routine is built around my clients and their pets. I usually do morning cat visits between 6:30am-10:30am depending on how busy the morning is, and evening visits between 5:30pm-8:30pm. During the day I walk dogs, which also means I can often fit in lunchtime visits if needed.

For house sitting, I'll usually be in and out during the day around dog walks depending on my schedule, but I'm always back in the evening for overnight stays and to keep pets company overnight. Most days I finish with dog walks around 5pm, sometimes earlier.

I personally think cats are happiest staying in their own home while their owners are away. Their routine, smells, favourite sleeping spots and surroundings all stay the same, the only new thing is me, which I find helps them settle and cope much better compared to moving them somewhere unfamiliar.

I always try to build trust at the cat's own pace and in an environment where they already feel safe and comfortable. Some cats want attention immediately, while others prefer their space at first, and I completely respect that. If a cat wants to hide or observe me from a distance initially, I'll always let them come to me in their own time rather than forcing interaction.

I try to keep feeding, playtime and routines as consistent as possible, and I'm experienced with nervous cats, shy personalities, senior cats and administering medication when needed. I also keep owners updated with messages and photos so they know their pets are comfortable and being well looked after.

Requested information about your pet

Before bookings, it's really helptul for me to know as much as possible about your cat's routine, personality and any special requirements so I can make visits as stress-free as possible for them.

  • Any medication or health conditions
  • Whether they are indoor, outdoor or a mix of both
  • Your registered vet details in case of emergency
  • Allergies or dietary requirements
  • Whether they're an escape artist or likely to dart out doors/windows
  • Any quirks, fears, favourite hiding spots or behaviours | should know about
  • The location of their cat carrier

Every cat is different, so | try to tailor visits around their personality and routine. Some cats love lots of attention and playtime, while others prefer a quieter visit and just having company nearby. During visits I'Il feed them, refresh water, clean litter trays, check on their general wellbeing and spend time with them in whatever way makes them most comfortable.
