A Loving Home Away from Home for Your Small Dog in Cork

Hello! I’m Deirdre, a friendly and experienced dog minder based in Mayfield, Cork City. I live with my two lovely children (ages 7 and 11) and our gentle, happy Bichon, Noah. We’re a warm, dog-loving family who genuinely enjoy welcoming small dogs into our home and daily routine.

Our house is calm, cosy, and full of love—with secure front and back gardens where your dog can explore safely, enjoy a sniff around, or soak up a bit of sunshine. Indoors, there’s always a comfy blanket, kind company, and plenty of attention from both humans and our four-legged host, Noah.

Whether it’s for daycare or an overnight stay, your dog will be treated like one of our own—with affection, playtime, and a home-from-home feel. I’m happy to follow your dog’s usual routine, including dietary needs or special requests.

I'm motivated to be a pet sitter quite simply because I love dogs and cats - and other animals very much. I can do animals, I can't do people (with a few exceptions)!
I grew up in the rural village of Whitechurch in County Cork, where we had German Shepherds and Collies. I currently live in Cork city, so I don't really have enough space for a big dog to live. Therefore, it'd be like a hobby-job for me, to take dogs and cats for walks, petting, groom, house sitting and general pet fun.&nbsp;
I love running around with animals. I can easily keep pace with smaller dogs and puppies, however, bigger/faster breeds such as German Shepherds, I'd use a bike so as to keep pace with them.&nbsp;
My experiences with pet sitting with pawshake.ie have been entirely positive, which I imagine will continue. It's the new year, I'm a teacher, so I have plenty of availability. I have references, Teaching Council certification and Garda Vetting (pun not intended) should you wish to see this.
I'd ideally only care for pets who are vaccinated, but if it's for walks, then unvaccinated dogs are fine. I'd take at most four pets at a time.

I used be be a foster for DAWG so I have ample experience with all the different characteristics dogs have to offer. I have a large fully enclosed garden for them to run around in. Ialso have multiple dog beds for them to rest, but have absolutely no issue when sleeping on couches or in bed with me. We are based in Carrigaline and offer a home away from home for your four legged friends. Myself and my partner Phil have grown up with dogs and have a huge amount of experience with different breeds. Small and large. I am a primary school teacher who subs occasionally so it is great to fit something I love in on days where I'm not in work. 
We currently have a Weimaraner/Lab X and a new Great Dane puppy that love the company of other dogs. We love them both to bits and know how important it is to have a space for you to send your family member when you can't be at home to mind them. 
We are an active household and are happy to provide individualised care and support for your furry friends. We are lucky to have a dog park nearby along with plenty of beaches and walks to cater for everyone's needs.
