Top cities for house sitting in Ireland

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Rathmines home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Rathmines.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Rathmines home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Hi there! We are Alan and Ying. We’re two young professionals and animal lovers who live in Rathmines.
We've always had animals in our homes growing up. Now that we’ve moved out, we really miss having our pets with us all the time!
We have had experience looking after our family, friends and neighbours dogs while they're away on holidays. We've minded a mix of small to medium sized dogs.
We usually go for multiple walks a day so your pet will definitely get all the exercise he/she needs.
We also both work from home, which will allow us to give your pet a lot of cuddles and attention! We will always look after your pets needs first.
Our home has a decent sized garden and is fenced off so it is safe.
There are also multiple dog parks near us just a few minutes walk away.

Growing up on a small farm in Cork, I am no stranger when it comes to looking after animals. My upbringing inspired me to pursue a degree in Veterinary Medicine in UCD, where I am currently a fourth year student. I have a plethora of experience in small animal clinics, handling and caring for a variety of breeds and personalities. Beyond my veterinary training, I have also worked in a luxury dog boarding establishment.
I am happy to walk your dog(s) for upwards of 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on your preference. If needed, I am capable of administering your pets at-home medications, as well as catering for their unique care requirements. Giving your pets a fun and playful experience with a walk (or even a run!) around their favourite spots is a big priority of mine. I am an energetic, reliable and resourceful individual, and will of course always endeavour to put your pets wellbeing at the forefront of my service.
When I'm not surrounded by animals, I love being outdoors: hillwalking, climbing, kayaking, etc.

UPDATE: I'm between contracts and available through August. With my new work starting in September, I may have availability for dog walking during weekdays, but not sure yet.
Hi there! My name is Owen and I'm a PhD student from the US. I've had dogs and cats as a part of my family my whole life. My wife and I currently live in Dublin with our Brittany spaniel, so unfortunately would be unable to bring pets to my own home. I grew up in a household full of animals and am excellent with pets. I've never had an unfriendly encounter with any and don't plan to. I know how to read their emotions and more importantly know how to act accordingly to what they're saying. My family loves dogs and I've helped train or have trained on my own about 7 dogs in my life. Cats are great as well! I've always had cats around and am happy to care for them too. Through family and friends I've been around the veterinary field a lot (NOT an expert by any means) and have gained helpful knowledge to keep pets happy and healthy. I love animals and so far in life I've found they love me. Searching for work to pet sit to help pay bills but more importantly to continue to meet and be around lovable critters. Unfortunately cannot commit to long-term/indefinite recurring bookings and only like to book a couple (maximum of 3) weeks in advance. Will try and adapt and accommodate any booking requests, and thanks for considering me!

Hi, I’m a 24-year-old living in Donnybrook. I work in a hospital, so I’m used to being responsible, organised, and dependable—qualities I bring to looking after dogs as well.

I have two dogs of my own, so I’m very comfortable around dogs and familiar with their routines, behaviour, and different personalities. I’ve also spent time walking and minding other dogs, so I understand that each one has their own needs, whether that’s a calm walk, a bit of playtime, or just some company during the day.

I work Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, so I’m generally available on Tuesdays, Fridays and weekends and I can sometimes be flexible outside of that. I’m happy to help with walks, sitting, or keeping your dog company while you’re away.

I know how important it is to leave your dog with someone you trust, and I’ll make sure they’re well looked after and comfortable while in my care.

My name is Patricia and I’m 21 years old, and have always had a pet at home. Ever since moving to Dublin 3 years ago I've missed taking care of my pets and going on my daily walks. I love dogs for always being there for me and making me happy, and I love to do everything I can to make them feel loved and special. Since I don't see my pets daily anymore, I would absolutely love to take care of others by taking them on walks to explore. I believe getting a pet means doing everything in your power to make them have the best life possible. That's why I prioritize my pets over anything.
I have plenty experience taking care of dogs and cats. Not only have I taken care of my own pets, but I sometimes dogsit my brother's dog and many of my friends' dogs. I believe I have a deep understanding of dogs and their emotions.
I am available to take any small dogs on up to 2 hour walks.
