I have just completed a QQI level 5 Animal Care course in Dun Laoghaire, in hopes to do veterinary nursing in September!
From a young age, I have always had a passion and natural curiosity for animal science and medicine. This motivated me to gain experiences in a variety of animal care roles and apply to veterinary in university.
A dream of mine is to have a career that would allow me to work with animals on a daily basis, this led me to get a part time job working as a kennel attendant during the last few summers as well as volunteering in the Dog Treatment Centre in the DSPCA.
Throughout my time there I gained vast experience working with all types of dogs. I practiced my skills handling dogs and how to manage different situations that the kennel would face on a daily basis including behavioural issues and medicine administration with the trained vets on site.
I really found my path while working in both the kennels and the DSPCA and towards the end of each summer I had grown in confidence and ability to work on my own accord, while making important decisions.
I also have previous work experience in a variety of veterinary clinics, veterinary hospitals, stables, kennels and independent cat and dog sitting and walking.
Due to the nature of my studies I am constantly gaining knowledge in animal handling, vet assisting skills, animal behaviour, dog grooming, and much more !
I juggle these responsibilities with my part time position as a pharmacy dispenser in Boots Pharmacy, Deansgrange.
I have been working here for the last 4 years, I really enjoy working here and it is very flexible to my studies.
I am a hardworking, self-motivated individual who is looking to progress my studies and gain experience. I believe my personality, interest, previous experience, and desire to work with animals makes me a very suitable person for the job.
I am fully certified by AniEd in Dog Handling and Canine First Aid.
I'm available on weekdays only, please contact me about times as I try to facilitate everyone, however my pre-existing clients take president !
I'm up for 30 minute or hour long, one on one walks in an urban park setting, the duration of the walk depends on the dog and their usual routine.
I am open to driving the dogs (I have a clean full driver's license, my own car and a doggy seatbelt) to a nearby large park which includes a dog park, or to a local beach or pier. This would be dependent on the dog's temperament.
I am available during these times also for home visits where I can spend as long as required with the dogs or cats, playing with them or simply chilling out, i can also water plants, bring in mail, administer oral medication, feed and provide fresh water ! I'd also love to snap a few pics to keep you updated on your pet :), again the duration spent would be dependent on the pets needs and usual routine, the price on my profile reflects 30 minute visits.
Please don't hesitate to contact me !!
