Hi! My name is Steph. I'm a Canadian living in Ireland and love having animals around. Deciding to move overseas meant the family cats needed to stay in Canada. It's been an adjustment to say the very least. I have regular Skype dates with them -- it helps with the loneliness a bit!
I grew up in a house where cats reigned. We have owned 3 cats in total, each with their own set of health problems, so I'm quite comfortable administering medication if necessary. To be more specific, I'm familiar with hyperthyroidism, feline asthma, and feline diabetes. In the photo above is my sweet old guy Gizmo. We've had him for 17 years! Crazy! Even though he has hyperthyroidism, he still acts like a kitten -- he has more energy than our younger one! I recently came back from a month long trip home. Seeing them and playing with them again was therapy.
While I was living in London, I volunteered in the cattery at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home where I learned a lot about feline behaviour and encountered an array of cat personalities. I can stay calm under pressure and tend to take a Zen approach to life in general.
I've never owned a dog because we always lived in apartments, but I have walked dogs (as a job and for enjoyment) a few times in the past. Visiting my boyfriends family in Cavan is always a treat. They have a lovable beagle named Candy. She's quite the character.
I simply can't imagine a world without our furry friends. :)
