I’m Laura from Switzerland, I’m 22 years old and I study here at Trinity College. I’ve lived with pets my entire life, I once had a Labrador and three stray cats we saved from the streets and now have another Labrador and I am occasionally helping my friend in finding a new home for stray pets. Back home I regularly walk my grandmother’s and my dogs. Here in Dublin I happened to walk several dogs to the Eamonn Ceannt Park before and I’d love to make it a habit.

That I’m mad about animals goes without saying, I’d be thrilled to meet and take care of your pets because I miss mine so much and miss the love only pets can give. In the streets I always stop to greet every dog I meet and that the owner allows me to pet, it just makes me so happy.

I’d love to go with your pets for long walks, make them play and socialize, let them sniff everywhere as if they were reading the newspaper. I also would like to put my spare time into good use and take a break from my study into the fresh air and surrounded by pets.

With my dogs and cats I’ve learned to know their ways of communication and behavioral problems. I’m very attentive and care for what they have to say all of the time cause I believe pets to be extremely communicative. With both my dogs I took a training course where alongside training I’ve also learned what you should and what you shouldn’t do when approaching other dogs.

Helping my friend with her animal shelter I got to learn about many pets that have been abandoned for their often expensive health problems to treat. So I learned to take care of deaf cats and dogs terrified of their past experience who have developed anxious behaviors but who in most cases, apart from tricking them into giving them the pill hidden in the ham, after eating the ham and spitting out the pill, in the end they just needed love and patience. And with the love we could give, cats gained confidence and dogs calmed down and eventually got attached.

I’d be happy to come collect and then return your dog at your house, take them for a nice long walk, reach an off leash park (e.g. the nice 30mins walk to Eammon Ceannt Park) where I can play with them and let them socialize with other dogs. I’d also be happy to brush them, feed them, give them medicine, give them baths etc. when you’re at work or out of town. And to follow any specific instructions specific to your own pet. I like to make myself useful and during housesitting I’d be willing to help out with any small household chores I could do.

I’m always happy to talk about pets and my experience to them, so I’d be happy to show you more pictures and videos or to meet you and your pet in advance of the sitting.
