Ronan

Hi there! 

My name is Ronan Stewart. I’m a dog-walker, a Cat - underling, and an all-round animal lover. 

I’ve owned or interacted with cats or dogs most of my life. Most recently, I volunteered with the DSPCA for several years, gaining experience with dogs and cats. 

 I was given Garda vetting, and volunteered in all weathers, walking dogs all around the DSPCA’s grounds, which stretched for nearly a couple of miles.

Many of these dogs had suffered neglect or had abandonment issues. They needed a careful hand, and I had to earn their trust, cleaning up waste, providing food and water, and general companionship.

 I developed an instinct for dogs, trying hard to figure out what the dog liked, disliked, and what its stress-points were. 

This meant taking a careful judgement based on its body language. For instance: 

‘Downward dog’ stretching front legs = ready for play.

Yawning = fear / stress.

Dog on back = Fear / Belly rub depending on context. 

And so on. 

This could help me 1: Figuring out what the dog wanted or liked. Did she like playing ball? Was it even in the mood for a walk in the first place? 

2: Being careful to choose equipment that is most comfortable for the dog, such as Julius K-9 harnesses and so on. 

I met some amazing animals there who just wanted some love and affection, and that could help bring out their playful, affectionate personalities, which is something I love. Back in 2022, I rescued a cat in County Louth and brought it all the way back to Dublin with me, then got it a new home through the DSPCA. 

I live and work in South Dublin city, and myself and my partner own a wonderful terrier named Poppy. I love being outdoors and walking on mountains and beaches whenever possible. 

I work in town from 9-5, but my schedule is flexible. I can provide walks from 4.30 till late. 

 I’m hoping to provide an effective, professional dog-walking service, with affection, understanding and appropriate boundaries for the dog. I am reliable, organized, and thrilled to work with dogs of all breeds and temperaments.

To ensure we’re a great match, let's schedule a meet up where we can chat and get to know each other better. I can provide a lower than normal fee for the first few walks as I am just starting out.
