Hi, I'm John and I am based in Bantry, West Cork in the town centre. I LOVE everything about dogs. I have grown up with dogs from Corgis to Golden Retrievers all my life.

Due to my upbringing being surrounded by and breeding Corgis, I have a lot of experience with dogs' daily and long-term needs and I know that each dog has different specific needs. I am comfortable administering medications if needed. In addition, if your pet requires basic grooming such as brushing I can provide this.

There is a vet less than a 5-minute drive from my home and a pet shop only a 3-minute walk away from me.

A dog park is a short 10-minute walk away, where there are usually several playful and friendly dogs and owners. At certain times there are little or no dogs if your dog prefers an unbothered walk. The dog park is grass and a fenced-off area near the harbour.

I am also within less than a 10 - 15 minutes drive from beaches and forests for those more adventurous dogs.

I recommend a meet and greet at my apartment for all new bookings to ensure suitability and that Oscar and your dog get along.

My home & routine

I live in a two-bedroom apartment by myself on the 2nd floor just off Main Street in Bantry. I usually walk my dog up and down the stairs but there is a lift for dogs with less mobility. There is a courtyard terrace on the second floor that is paved and fully secure. This is a nice space for dogs to take toilet breaks, run, relax and play.

I have one dog who will be at the apartment at all times. His name is Oscar and he is the Golden retriever in my pictures. He is 2 years old and is very welcoming, and playful and would love the excitement of having another friend around. He is fully house trained, vaccinated and neutered.

I work from home which means I will be with your pet 24/7 during their stay. If I do need to pop out to the shop etc. I usually bring them with me in the car. Your pet will have full access to the kitchen, living area, hallway and courtyard. A typical day for us would be:

- Morning walk for 30 mins, followed by feeding.

- I usually offer toys for play whilst I work. and mid-morning a run in the courtyard.

- At lunchtime, we will go to the park for a run and a play.

- Back home then for naps and/or play whilst I work. Mid-afternoon I usually take a break and take them out for a run in the courtyard.

- Second feeding usually takes place around 6 pm followed by a 45-minute walk.

- We usually go out for another run in the courtyard before bed.

If your dog requires additional walks or exercise you can let me know. At weekends I have more time so we tend to go out for more play more often and maybe venture to a beach or woods.

Your dog will sleep indoors in my living area or hallway with or without Oscar alongside. Oscar can sleep in my room if your dog prefers its own space at night. If you think your dog would be more comfortable in its own bed please bring that along too.

What you will need to bring:

- Food & bowl

- Lead/harness

- Bed

- If your dog has toys that they like to play with at home bring them along so that they have something familiar to make them feel more at home.

- A copy of their vaccination records

Day Care (>12 hours) - 15 Euro - 25 Euro for two dogs

Boarding (#24 hours) - 30 Euro - 55 Euro for two dogs

If drop-off is at 9 am pick-up should be at 9 am on the last day, any time over this will be additionally charged as a daycare service.

I only board one dog at a time, if it is the one owner I will board 2. I offer daycare for up to two dogs per day.
