About Ludo
Hi there, hope you're doing great! My name is Ludo (like the boarda game) and I have been living in Ireland for the past 9 years. I'm a professional dog walker/sitter and qualified dog groomer. I've always been an animal lover; when I was a kid I used to beg my mother to help me buy some food in order to feed straight cats and kittens around the neighbourhood. I've always had doggies since the age of 8 and used to enjoy so much going to the countryside, where my grandad used to have a small piece of land with lots of rabbits, chickens, ducks (and much more) so I've basically lived and grew up surrounded by animals my all life. As a kid I always thought I was going to be a vet but then life took a different turn, until 3 years ago....I finally decided to change career and try to make a living out of my greatest passion, animals! I did a lot of research, still do,and figure out I wanted to become a dog groomer (among other things animals related). So I learned how to groom and got myself a diploma, the name of the course is Ipet (provider) Level 3 in Dog Grooming and Salon Management. Since then I'm committed to always put the safety and welfare of the doggies first (before aesthetic). Spending time with dogs can be so rewarding and,at the end of the day,I feel and hope to have somehow helped improving the doggies life, and the owners too,.
My first pet was a Yorkshire terrier, his name was Duke. I got him when I was only 8 years ago and it's safe to say that we grew up together. He was a bit temperamental,as sometimes Yorkies can be lol,but he did teach me so many valuable lessons;patience, taking care of another living creature, understanding needs and so much more. He accompanied me until my 1st year of college,we then had to say goodbye.
After Duke comes Blake. A mix between a labrador and something else (he was taller and skinnier than a labrador) my family and I rescued him from a dog pound and since then we had about 6/7 years together of pure love, trust and companionship.
At that point I had already spent months in Ireland (on and off) and got to know another doggie,Harry.
I lived with Harry for the past 6 years. He recently left us. Harry was a mix between a pyrenee, golden retriever/husky. In his old age specially I got to spend lots of time taking care of him; walking him, feeding him, keeping him clean and comfortable.
And,always in Ireland,I got to know Bobby as well. A 8 months old (at the present moment) Saluki pup full of energy. I do live in the same house as Bobby (and where Harry used to live as well). Bobby comes from a charity rescue and my instinct of wanting to feel him comfortable kicks in everytime so I was always end up bathing him, trimming his nails, buying him new toys and quality food and such.
I do firmly believe in a holistic approach as a plus to help making your doggies life as comfortable as possible. Obviously there are times where the doggie needs veterinary attention and that cannot be change or substitute but,I do also believe in the power of natural healing. Passionate about researching, and gaining more knowledge, when it comes to feeding your dog the best food and holistic remedies to help your dog feel less nervous. Patience is key and understanding that's it's better not to rush anything cause your dog safety is not a competition on who's the best minder/groomer (....) but it's about "what can we do to help this dog, what does he needs to feel safe and regain his confidence". Slow and steady always wins the race!
