Hi! My name is Andrea, I moved in Ireland a couple of years ago in order to pursue a PhD. As you might have seen from the pictures, my best paw-friend is a Welsh Corgi Pembroke named Tristan. We have a lot of fun together and we always try different things. Among others: dog shows (he's Italian Champion!), agility (short legs, great bravery!), sheepdog (Corgis are sheperds!) scent games and all sort of dog trainings. Unfortunately, I could not bring him to Ireland but he is safe and sound with my family: luckily I have the chance to visit him very often and I tend to spend the whole summer back home!
I am extremely passionate about dogs and Pawshake is giving me the chance to channel my passion and offer my services to you! I've been sharing my life with dogs since I was a toddler. I can still remember the day my parents brought "Rudy" back home: a lovable german-sheperd mix puppy that we adopted thanks to some volunteers. Later on, I had the pleasure to share part of my life with Lilli (Rough Collie Mix) and Milady (Corso Dog), loving and caring dogs that sadly crossed the rainbow bridge a few years ago.
Once I got Tristan, I started getting more involved with Dog Clubs and Trainers engaging in all sort of activities. Also, after attending some of seminars from reputable handlers and trainers, I started showing my friends' dogs (pictures below!) and daycaring for them when time allowed. I have a good experience in dog handling, basic dog training, grooming of sheperd breeds et al. Even though I work in a completely different domain, I spend a considerable amount of time reading books about dogs' ethology, training, grooming and behaviour. Also, back in Italy I collaborated with Tristan's Kennel (he's a proud father of many corgis!) in order to acquire more and more knowledge these wonderful animals. That implies an extensive exposure to Kennel Management and study of genetics. Who knows, one day I might end starting my own Kennel!
While I am not a professional trainer/handler/breeder - nor I want to claim to have the same amount of skills and experience - I feel that is inclination of mine could be an asset when making your decision! Just to reiterate: I do not deal with behavioural issues: the latter are quite a delicate matter and I strongly advise you to get in touch with qualified and reputable professionals in this case (vets, trainers etc).
For now, as I just signed-up to Pawshake, I plan to focus on dog-walking and home-visits as the main services. On top of that, I am happy to offer basic training on tricks (paw, roll over etc) included in the package: while they're cute as they can be, these are excellent ways to engage with a dog and build a solid bond of trust with him/her!
Here in Ireland, I live in the Clontarf area: an excellent place where to walk a dog! Should you be interested in my services, please do not hesitate to get in touch for further details about me and about what I offer!
Andrea is a nice person, very professional.. Our dog was so happy with Andrea. We strictly recommend Andrea as dogsitter.
Andrea was amazing -- I would highly recommend him! He was a great communicator--keeping us posted on how our pup was doing each day and sending us pictures while we were on our holiday. Deacon had so much fun with Andrea, and he took him on lots of walks and gave him plenty of playtime. His house is very nice and clean and has a spacious garden to let dogs out for potty time and play. Andrea clearly has lots of experience in training and interacting with dogs with different personalities, which is very important. Thank you so much Andrea for taking care our our Deacon! We will bring him back very soon!
