I've been a huge animal lover all my life. Anyone who has ever had a pet knows how hard it is to live without their constant, never ending devotion and love to you. I've always found the bond between human and animal to be incredible and this is one of the reasons I love being a pet sitter and dog walker.
Since 2012, I have been dog walking and pet sitting both cats and dogs for family, friends and neighbours around my area. I am very trustworthy and would happily spend all my time with animals if I could. Unfortunately I cannot take animals into my own home, however, I am able to stay in the home of the pet owner if you are on holidays or gone for long periods of time. If staying over is not necessary, I usually do at least two home visits a day for feeding, walking, toilet breaks and ensuring the dog or cat is interacted with and has been given affection. Each dog walk is usually an hour and each walk will depend on the dog's health and go at their pace. My local park is St. Anne's Park, which is a beautiful place and all the dogs there always have great fun because there's so many other dogs they can meet, new smells and also a dog park as well. I am comfortable and responsible around any size or breed of dog as I have spent a lot of time with them in dog parks and pet sitting. My own dog was a Newfoundland.
Recently I have graduated from an Animal Science course in Killester College and received the QQI Level 5 Award in Animal Care with distinctions in all modules. Throughout this course, I have studied modules such as animal behaviour, animal welfare and animal husbandry. Since July 2021, I've worked as a volunteer animal carer in St. Anne’s City Farm. Some of my main duties on the farm include preparing food, cleaning out stables and spending quality time with all the animals. I also do health checks and participate in helping other volunteers with handling and restraining the animals. Working on the farm as an animal carer has given me great insight and experience and has been very beneficial to me when learning about animal care.
